Italy has never been the cheapest holiday destination - in fact, over previous years, this country really did start to price itself out of the European travel market. Then, of course, you have the fact that you get very few Euros to your pound and this has been the case for so long now, it is hard to remember the days when you could get around 1.70 Euros to every pound.
As the travel industry has been suffering so badly through the fact that bookings have been way down, Italy has actually done something about this. Holiday prices have not tended to increase at the same rate that other worldwide destinations have (e.g. Florida has increased exponentially and continues to rise!).
There are two ways of finding yourself an affordable holiday to Italy and the first involves booking a good holiday package that includes your flights, hotel and transfers. They are out there, it is simply a matter of travelling outside of the main Summer holidays.
The second way is to take care of all the booking arrangements yourself. This means scanning the internet to locate the very best flight deal available. Do not be swayed by the duplicity of the no frills airlines; once you add all their extra charges together, they will often be less value for money than the traditional airlines. Go on to a hotel booking site to track-down a good deal on your accommodation, or even consider self catering properties.
Italy can be an affordable country to visit, more so nowadays than ever. So take advantage of this concerted effort to increase the number of people visiting.
